Artist and sculptor Gregory Reade | Gregory Reade Sculpture

Artist Bio

Gregory Reade sculpts contemporary bronze figures that reveal the inner self as challenged by today’s modern life. Keenly wrought in both single and multiple compositions, these metaphorical impressions are realistically conveyed by his sharp eye, sly humor and deft hand.

A creative artist since 1982, Reade’s early work included stop-action photography, special effects makeup and animation models for short films. After a stint in movie production and effects, his travel to Paris, Florence and Rome inspired Reade to leave a lucrative computer career and devote all of his time to sculpting.

Extensively self-taught, the Scottsdale native started studying figurative sculpture close to home in San Diego, then furthered his education in numerous workshops at the Scottsdale Artists School, enhancing Reade’s skills to higher levels of excellence.

The thrill of expressing ideas, thoughts and emotions through the human figure is central to Reade’s imagery. He continues to create his sculpture at an accelerated pace, energized by the successful completion of each project and the growing recognition of a “G.Reade” work.

Complimenting his artistic pursuits Reade continues to increase his overall knowledge which ultimately reflects back to his sculpture. He reads constantly on a variety of historical and scientific subjects, studies Italian, French and Japanese language, and regularly travels to Europe and throughout the U.S.

Reade’s sculpture is displayed in public monuments, private collections and has garnered Best Sculpture awards in juried exhibitions from coast to coast.
